After changing note-taking tools a few times, I found that I needed very little: somewhere easy to write, easy to find again, and open to connections.
An elaborate filing system can make “Where should this go?” seem more important than “What do I want to say?”
Now I let the same idea appear in several places. Tags don’t have to exclude one another. Links don’t have to be complete from the beginning. Leave the thought first, and let a structure emerge.
Perhaps that is the simplest beginning of a place for ideas to grow.
